Land Stewardship Project Update

Nature Chelsea has completed the first year of its land stewardship project, with funding support from Environment Canada’s Ecoaction program. The project has identified areas of high conservation value in Chelsea and has engaged landowners in these areas with stewardship actions that will protect and enhance biodiversity on their properties. Nature Chelsea has worked with several Chelsea landowners by assessing their land for habitat quality and providing them with information on how to maintain and enhance the conservation value of their land. These landowners will have an opportunity to become certified land stewards of Chelsea. Nature Chelsea will continue to work with landowners for the second phase of the project. Owners agreeing to manage their land to maintain or enhance its conservation value will be eligible for certification as a land steward of Chelsea. To obtain more information on the project, visit the Nature Chelsea website www.naturechelsea.ca or contact naturechelsea@gmail.com.
